I'm making a shop sample of a table runner that involves curved piecing. I've done a little (very little) dabbling before, but this is really the most I've done. There will be leftover curved pieces as the border. I'm using the
Curve Master foot and it's awesome. This was so easy, and zero pinning. Really!
Beautiful. I've been wanting to make a jacket with curved pieced fabric. How did you do it?
ReplyDeleteThis method involves laying two pieces together, both right side up, and then cutting a gentle curve through both. Then you swap one side and sew and you'll get two blocks out of it. The curve master foot helps because it's very short. If you make sure you offset at the beginning if necessary, they go together easily. I think I had to clip one curve because it wasn't laying flat when pressed, but otherwise, these aren't even clipped.
ReplyDeleteVery cool! Makes for a nice change from straight lines.
ReplyDeleteThat looks great! I like curved piecing even though I haven't done much of it. The curved lines are such a nice change from the straight lines always seen in quilting. Hmmmm...now you've got me thinking! lol!
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely - can't wait to see more of it! I've always dreaded curved piecing
ReplyDeleteKris
My only curved piecing experience was my NY Beauty quilt, which was a class I was talked into because the paper piecing "is a snap"..;.the owner failed to also tell me what a challenge the arcs could be. This does not look that difficult. I cannot wait to see your final piece. :)
ReplyDeletei'm so scared to try curved piecing...but i'm getting a little closer every day! :)
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried curved piecing, it looks so nice though! And I am a complete sucker for gadgets, so I may have to try that curve master foot.
